KHL Rules

The idea of the league is to have some fun and we don't want to make things too formal but we need some basic rules for the Refs to use. We will be using "generally accepted" gentleman's hockey rules... we all have to go to work in the morning.

UPDATED Oct. 30, 2006

KHL DISCIPLINARY REGULATIONS

1. Hockey Canada Rules shall govern play, except where KHL Rules are prescribed. Referees will be provided with a list of specific KHL rules.

2. Any player using foul or abusive language towards an official shall receive an unsportsmanlike penalty and will serve two minutes in the penalty box. Excessive verbal abuse of the referee will result in a 10-minute misconduct and possible further action (suspension) by the league. Physical contact with a referee will result in ejection from the game and suspension by the Safety Discipline and Officiating (SDO) Committee.

3. Any player receiving three (3) penalties in a game will be ejected from the game immediately upon the assessment of the third penalty. When this occurs he must proceed directly to the dressing room. If he fails to do so, he will be suspended for an additional game. Any ejection for 3 penalties will warrant a review by the SDO committee and further action may result.

4. Any player receiving a 10 minute misconduct penalty shall be subjected to a review of their status by the SDO committee.

5. Fighting, butt-ending, checking from behind, spearing, attempts to injure (any major penalty 5 minutes or more) shall be dealt with by your SDO committee severely. Once again this is a FUN league.

6. Suspensions shall be imposed by the SDO committee.–  All players should recognize that this league is for fun only.  If harassment of officials and other players is part of your playing style, then this league is definitely not for you.

7. Any player who plays while under suspension shall be ejected from the KHL League (as long as they were aware). No money shall be refunded by the League.

8. Team managers are responsible to ensure that their members are aware that the league rules are posted on the league website . IGNORANCE OF THE RULES IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE DEFENSE IN THE EVENT OF A DISPUTE.

9. The League reserves the right to award a suspension to any player who blatantly commits an infraction, unseen by the referees, which would or could injure another player, embarrass the League, or make a travesty of the game. Such suspensions shall only be authorized by the SDO committee.

KHL Rules of Play
