Week 27: Playoff round 2

KC vs TG

"Its not how many you win, its the ones you win." Unknown Kings Player
You couldn't ask for a closer, more intense playoff game. The Kings jumped out of the gates with a 1-0 lead in the first half before the Terrain Blazers made a furious drive with two goals before the intermission, and added a third early in the second . The second half was all kings, as they were a dominant force for the entire half managing to tie it up and then go ahead with a beautiful breakaway goal with 5 minutes left that was sure to send them to victory.
The Kings had some great chances in the final minutes to put this away for good, especially on a great shot that the Blazers tender "Easy Mac MacLeod" just managed to snap down with the glove. With the final seconds on the clock and the KHL season counting down, the Blazers pulled Easy Mac in a last ditch effort to tie the game. A shot managed to squeak through the Kings defense and their tender made a quick move to cover it. The clock still ticking...face off in the Kings zone...both teams jumping to the face off circle and a Time-Out is called with 27 seconds remaining. Intense. Very...Intense. Can you feel it? Both teams regroup after the time out. Ryan Spence in the faceoff circle for Terrain pulls the puck back perfectly to Scott Grant and the mother of all knuckle pucks gets lofted towards the Kings net.....(insert olympic slow motion music here)....Intense...Very...Intense. You can feel it now can't you? Somehow the puck manages to make its way to the net in the first place, then through the Kings goaltender, and across that little red line we professionals call the "goal line". With 24 seconds left the Blazers bench goes nuts, tie game. The clock counts down before the puck gets dropped again. Now for a Shootout. Terrain decides to shoot first. The first two skaters for each team solved nothing as the tenders stood solid their ground. At this point you should understand that it was Intense...Very...Intense. Adam Healy skated past the hash marks and fired one past the Kings tender....and the Blazers rejoiced. Now it was the showdown of showdowns, Big Eli vs Easy Mac. Big Eli slowly made his advance towards the Blazers netminder, deked to his forehand and ...Intense...Very...smack!!! Easy Mac threw a poke check and closed the door with his right pad and instantly the Blazers made their frantic swarm to celebrate with their netminder. Chris "Easy Mac" MacLeod Backstopped Terrain and earned MVP honours, and a 6 pack of Stella to cool off his glove hand.
A great game all in all by both teams . The shootout isn't the best way to win a hockey game, but hey, the two fans sure enjoyed it. And speaking of two, the beauty of the KHL is that you only need two wins, and Terrain managed to do that in both the regular season and playoffs, the ones they needed to.

K2 vs JW

Excellent game between the also rans - lead went back and forth - JW pulled away by 3 and K2 closed to within 1. With time running out K2 were throwing some serious pressure at the JW goalie. Should have called a time-out.

Final JW 6, K2 5
